Working with formulas and functions in Excel is absolutely critical to building powerful financial and analytical worksheets and is probably the most important skill set for many Excel users.
Excel has over 400 built-in functions, a potent set of power tools that simplify certain kinds of formulas and give you unlimited computational potential. Many Excel functions provide extended analytical capabilities and open the door to more efficient use of Excel, but with this many functions, it’s no easy task to know which functions are available and which ones you might have overlooked.
This session gives you perspective on what functions are available and explains (with extensive examples) how to use many of them, including: the IF function (with AND and OR), the powerful VLOOKUP function, selected Date, Statistical, Financial, and Mathematical functions, and the frequently overlooked Text functions.
All examples will be presented within the context of Excel worksheets based on real-life examples; numerous productivity tips, shortcuts, and accelerator tools will be presented throughout the session.
• Learn formula-building shortcuts and how to use formula-auditing tools
• Learn how to build 3-D formulas to tabulate totals from multiple worksheets.
• Learn how to use the powerful IF function and the related AND and OR functions for programming-like capability.
• Learn how to look up information in tables using the VLOOKUP function
• Use the AGGREGATE function to circumvent error-laden data
• Learn how to use selected Text functions to extract and manipulate character and numerical data for sorting and analytical purposes.
• Learn how to harness the power gained from using multiple functions in a nested fashion
• Learn how and when to use the powerful COUNTIF/SUMIF family of functions
• Learn about new Excel 2013 functions – ARABIC, ISFORMULA, FORMULATEXT

"This was an excellent seminar from the host to the presenter, the materials, and the ability to re-watch it over again. Highly recommend anyone who wants to learn more about what excel can do and how to use and build formulas. I watched another Excel course from CPAacademy who had a different presenter. While the other course was good, many of the items he showed I could already do as I had taken an 8 hour Excel course years ago. This one gave me a different view and something I could take away. The instructor was well versed and was able to contrast what 2013 Excel can do v. 2010 or older version of Excel. Great Job!"Nancy, CA
"During the past six months I have attended many Excel webinars, to try to move to the next (advanced) level. Many were good, most were disappointing. Sometimes it was the material, sometimes the instructor. Well this webinar was a gold medal winner! Great instructor, knowledgeable and also great in conducting the workshop verbally. Didn't move too fast or too slow, and you could tell the audience had varying levels of expertise - excellent teaching skills! All examples demonstrated were relevant and useful. Will definitely consider using this presenter in the future."Suzanne, CO
"Easily the best webinar I've made time for. Ever. Seriously. Yes, you'll already know some of the tips-n-tricks, but you'll definitely pick up others. This presenter, Dennis Taylor, had an easy, engaging style and the materials were incredibly easy to use...I was able to follow along with the presentation and try the techniques as the course was in progress. SO good. Thank you! More courses from this presenter, please!"Linda, OK
"Fantastic!!! I missed a lot of it and it was still the best webinar I can EVER remember attending! It was teaching things I can use everyday both on the job and at home...things that tho they said I could go find those answers on Google, I would never have thought to look there. I will definately be watching the archived version...probably more than once. Thanks so much!!!"Lisa, VA
"The presenter was very engaging and kept your attention. He was VERY good at explaining things and did not move too quickly so he was easy to follow. Would love to see more webinars from him on excel. Excel has become such a necessary tool in the work environment and you can never learn all the tricks and understand fully what is possible with Excel on your own."Betty, NC
"Dennis Taylor presented an excellent seminar on Microsoft Excel Functions and Formulas! His worksheets were topically related and their use throughout the presentation provided a consistent framework that enabled attendees to focus on the Excel concepts being conveyed. Would like very much to attend other seminars presented by Mr. Taylor."Natalie, TX
"This was an excellent webinar and time well spent. Dennis is very knowledgable and presented his information in a manner that made it very easy to learn. The excel workbook provided will allow for practice of the formulas, functions and vlookups. Dennis stayed after the alloted time to answer questions which was very helpful."Dawn, PA
"This was the most beneficial hour and a half I've spent taking a free webinar. EVER. The level of detail in the explanations was very helpful and seeing the formulas in action with "real" data and how the result changed with minor syntax changes was priceless. I would pay for your services. I will be checking out your site."
